SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
The job involves coordinating and leading a team of external DTP specialists working on a specific project within several languages and enhancing technical DTP skills. The objective of DTP is to ensure that any text/material into another culture/market/vision is done without altering the original intention of the corpus. Moreover, the DTP Lead must lead and direct the activities of a group of external DTP specialists and ensure that the work is performed at a satisfactorily high standard within the specified deadlines. The Publishing Lead is required to produce a consistent high quality work and to make sure that a constant and unrivalled quality control is always performed on all projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing a team of external DTP specialists.
- Sampling and performing QAs on final products.
- Keeping reference materials/project kits organised and up to date.
- Ensuring that resources and specialists are in place with the assistance of DTP Manager and DTP Outsourcing Manager.
- Achieving the goals assigned by the DTP Manager and Project Managers.
- Analysing the product from a DTP/localisation point of view, evaluating files, and preparing projects for DTP
- Preparing DTP kits with instructions for DTP specialists.
- Attending meetings related to the department and assigned projects.
- Producing consistent high quality work and ensuring that the work carried out meet required quality standards.
- Meeting customers to discuss their DTP requirements
- Solving problems and conflicts as they arise
- Liaising with project managers, co-ordinators and team leads of other groups – in planning the project schedule.
- Keeping the Project Manager and DTP Manager well informed on the status/progress of the project.
- Tracking and managing a query log
- Track and report performance feedback to external resources and the DTP Outsourcing manager
- Performing Desktop Publishing in a variety of packages as required by customers, both PC and MAC.
- Research of DTP material, tools and packages
- Ensuring that all DTP procedures are duly observed.
- Train DTP Specialists when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- 4-5 years DTP experience in the localisation industry is generally required. Experience is more important than qualification at this level.
- Proven co-ordination / leadership skills
- Expert knowledge of the main DTP packages (Word, FrameMaker, In Design, PhotoShop, Illustrator and PowerPoint) and exposure to other less used packages(PageMaker and Quark Xpress).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team are essential.
- Ability to problem solve, show strong initiative and give attention to detail.
- Ability to analyse projects, to plan and schedule activities.

CAREER PATH
Can progress to DTP Manager or Project Management. This is subject to individual skills and performance.
