T20 World Cup 2022 Winner: England
In Australia’s hosting of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022, England defeated Pakistan by five wickets. This time, the famous T20 World Cup 2022 Trophy is in the hands of three lions. Back in 2020, the ICC declared that there would be consecutive T20 World Cups in 2021 and 2022. Australia won the T20 World Cup in 2021, which was held in the United Arab Emirates. Due to the effects of the global pandemic, the ICC announced that the official host of the 2021 T20 World Cup would instead host the competition in 2022. Finally, Australia successfully hosted the T20 World Cup in 2022, but they were unable to successfully defend their title. The T20 World Cup trophy will also be returned to England.
T20 World Cup 2021 Winner: Australia
The T20 World Cup 2021 final match was played between Australia and New Zealand. Team Australia defeated New Zealand by 8 wickets and won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Mitchell Marsh of Australia became the player of the match in the T20 World Cup 2021 final match. Total of 12 teams are participating in the main event (Super 12) in this World Cup which was divided into two groups.
T20 World Cup 2016 Winner: West Indies
The West Indies cricket team won the T20 World Cup 2016 by defeating England in the final. With this achievement, West Indies became the first team to win the T20 World Cup twice. Virat Kohli became the Player of the Series in this world cup and Tamim Iqbal was the highest run-scorer.
T20 World Cup 2014 Winner: Sri Lanka
The T20 World Cup 2014 final match was played between Sri Lanka and India. Sri Lanka defeated India by 6 wickets in the final match. Virat Kohli of the Indian team became the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 series’ highest run-scorer and player of the series.
T20 World Cup 2012 Winner: West Indies
West Indies won their first T20 World Cup in 2012, by defeating Sri Lanka in the final match. West Indies defeated Sri Lanka by 36 runs in the final. In T20 World Cup in 2012, Shane Watson of Australia was named Player of the Series as well as the leading run-scorer while Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka was named the leading wicket-taker bowler.
T20 World Cup 2010 Winner: England
The England cricket team won the T20 World Cup 2010 by defeating Australia in the final. England defeated Australia by 7 wickets in the final. The England team had lost their opening game to the West Indies team, but they went on to win all of their successive games and earn the title. Kevin Pietersen of England was named player of the series in the 2010 T20 World Cup.
T20 World Cup 2009 Winner: Pakistan
Pakistan won its first T20 World Cup in 2009. Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final. Tillakaratne Dilshan of Sri Lanka was the Player of the Series and the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
T20 World Cup 2007 Winner: India
The first team to win the T20 World Cup, led by MS Dhoni was India. India won the first T20 World Cup in 2007 by defeating Pakistan in the final match. India only lost one game during the tournament, against New Zealand in the Super 8s. Shahid Afridi of Pakistan was named Player of the Series in this tournament.
