The Engineering R & D function at Medtronic Engineering & Innovation Centre (MEIC), Hyderabad encompasses design, development and verification activities during New Product Development (NPD) and sustaining phases of the product development cycle for the Global Business Unit (GBU)s. The Senior Software Engineer will be a member of the Engineering R&D team. The Senior Software Engineer will closely work with the Engineering team to provide technical solutions to build end to end automation frameworks and CI/CD pipeline to reach a very high level of productivity.
The Senior Software Engineer should be conversant with the current technologies and provide thought leadership in automation and DevOps. The ideal candidate is a hybrid organizational and technology leader as well as a critical thinker who operates across disciplines – product design, software architecture and usability, software engineering process, operational performance and customer support. Strong technical leadership skills are a must, as are excellent verbal and written communication abilities
A Day in the Life
The Senior Software Engineer is accountable for streamlining and standardizing DevOps practices using the right framework, tools and techniques to improve efficiencies in development, delivery, deployment and operation workflows.
Must Have
The individual must ensure the set up and functioning of the continuous build environment to achieve continuous development, continuous testing, continuous integration, continuous deployment and continuous monitoring. The candidate must be able to work with large scale enterprise systems including desktop, web and mobile platforms that integrate with other in-house and/or 3rd party software and medical devices. The Candidate must work closely with the GBU DevOps architect, R&D Senior Senior Software Engineer or Chief Architect to determine feasibility of implementation within time and cost constraints.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of total product development experience with 5 to 8 years in Automation and DevOps.
  • Masters or bachelor’s in engineering or Technology in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Electricals or related field.
  • Industry recognized certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, SAFe®4 DevOps Practitioner Certification and Microsoft Certified Azure DevOps Engineer.
  • Solid Experience in design, implementation, use, enablement of the Automation strategy.
  • Solid experience in automating development, delivery and deployment workflows.
  • Solid Experience in Python programming.
  • Experience in designing, developing, enhancing and maintaining enterprise level automation frameworks
  • Experience with creating Continuous Integrations server tasks/jobs (e.g., Jenkins, TeamCity)
  • Orchestration tool experience (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience using automation tools such as Selenium, Test Complete etc.,
  • Experience in building a continuous integration and continuous delivery environments. Experience in building real-time reports and dashboards for the automation.
  • Experience working with VM’s and Cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience working in Windows command line environments (Command Prompt and/or PowerShell)
  • Experience working with Linux command line environment. Working knowledge of automated requirements and test management tools such as Doors, Rational Requisite Pro, Polarion, etc.
  • Experience in installing and setting up desktops and servers
  • Experience in extreme programming practices such as Behavior Driven Development.
  • Experience in performance testing tools such as JMeter.
  • Experience in performance monitoring tools such as New Relic.
  • Experience working in a global cross-culture team environment.
  • Working knowledge of modern scripting languages as well as C# and .NET technologies.
  • Working knowledge of software, firmware and hardware design and development processes.
  • Working knowledge of networking–TCP/IP communications and understanding of routers and switches.
  • Working knowledge of coding standards, code refactoring techniques, design patterns and other development best practices.
  • Knowledge of the architecture trends and the emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience in Non-Product Tool Validation as per the FDA (Medical) standards.
  • Experience with healthcare regulatory standards such as FDA and ISO standards like IEC 62304.
  • Experience in building platforms or software applications in the cloud environment.
  • Expert understanding of enterprise-class system concepts (Deployment, Performance, Scalability, Availability, and Security)
  • Experience implementing Cloud and/or Hybrid-Cloud solutions a plus.
  • Ability to review and create technical design documentation
  • Strong understanding of testing concepts to participate in unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and performance testing
  • Microservices architecture experience a plus.
  • Ability to consistently perform well during times of increased work load
  • Ability to work on cross-functional project teams comprised of software verification and development engineers, system engineers, human factor engineers and quality engineers.
  • Design/test experience working within a regulated environment.
  • Working Knowledge of DRM, Six-Sigma principles
  • Medical Devices experience
