The Sr Stat & Tax manager role reports to the Director Finance, Stat & Tax and has ownership for the overall books of accounts, statutory compliances, direct & indirect tax compliance, tax reporting and insights processes within the subsidiary. The oversight and coordination aspects of the role give it a unique left-to-right view across the various statutory and tax compliances on the legal entity. The role also contains significant senior external consultants, auditors, banker’s exposure through close partnership on various tax compliance matters.
Key Functions for the Role

Key Functions for the Role
- Meet local tax and statutory filing requirements for responsible stat entities – no delayed filings.
- Provide business intelligence from quarterly variance reviews and quarterly signoff of books of financials
- Cash forecast accuracy / Tax provision forecast accuracy.
- Successful implementation of accounting changes through close collaboration with Operating Centers and Corp Accounting team
- Successful implementation of local statutory and tax changes
- Proactive stakeholder management and collaboration
- Reducing manual workloads and ensuring effective use of resources
- Proactively collaborate with key partners to early flag and escalate risks and issues.
The key functions of the role can be described under the following pillars.
Statutory Accounting Integrity and Accuracy
- Accountable for legal entity P&Land balance sheet integrity.
- Accountable for accurate stat records and timely annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP and local statutory matters across all statutory entities incl. data centers and some DAVA entities.
- Identify all non-standard transactions (cross-charges, accruals, commission changes etc.) and review their statutory implications before any decision to proceed.
- Responsible for reviewing accounting policy changes and their statutory and tax implications before any decision to proceed.
- Responsible for managing the statutory risk profile of the local subsidiary, and escalating risks to Corp Accounting according to policy.
- Responsible for identifying opportunities to standardize and automate statutory processes where possible, reducing manual workloads and ensuring effective use of resources.
Tax Compliance and Advisory
- Accountable for accurate and timely tax filings (where not in scope for Tax Team).
- Accountable for tax payments and forecasting.
- Support invoicing and/or accounting changes to tax or local business models (in conjunction with the Tax team).
- Manage audits from local tax authorities and other government agencies (in conjunction with Tax team).
- Oversee that local transfer pricing documentation and reporting obligations are complied with in line with local regulations.
- Responsible for managing the tax risk profile of the local subsidiary, and escalating risks to the Tax team.
- Responsible for identifying opportunities to standardize and automate tax processes where possible, in partnership with the International Tax Compliance team, reducing manual workloads and ensuring effective use of resources.
- Responsible for managing the statutory risk profile of the local subsidiary, and escalating risks to Corp Accounting according to policy.

Stakeholder Management
- Ensure the best ROI from key contributors (including OneFinance, FinOps, Ops Finance etc.) with high level oversight of Stat & Tax work.
- Accountable for annual review of scope of work and DTP for shared service providers.
- Manage external auditor relationship (with involvement from the COE Controller).
- Manage external advisor relationship in relation to statutory accounting and tax compliance and advisory.
- Manage the ongoing relationship with local tax authorities and other government agencies.
Other Statutory Reporting and Advisory
- Cash Management and forecasting.
- Land global and local projects, with proper statutory accounting infrastructure and registration, and in compliance with local tax regulations & MS global processes. Provide support for the local business operations on the implementation of these projects.
- Assist with creation and drive closure of statutory entities as required, (partnering with CELA) and ensure finance readiness of legal entities in country.
- Responsible for other government reporting obligations for the subsidiary (e.g. statistical surveys, data queries, bank reporting, inspections, subsidy and grant applications etc).

education
- chartered accountant, with strong academic achievements
experience and skills
- desired experience 10+ years of demonstrated work experience in finance
- statutory (local gaap, usgaap) accounting, controlling, tax knowledge
- experience in multinationals with multi-product/multi-segment finance roles is preferred
- good interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
- strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- ability to thrive in complex environments and work through cross group collaboration
- ability to step up and handle special projects/ provide leadership in specific areas as and when needed
