The Data Custodian Senior Manager is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department in an effort to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Bank development team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the team in an effort to accomplish established goals as well as conduct personnel duties for team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions)
- Utilize in-depth knowledge and skills across multiple Applications Business and Development areas to provide oversight across systems and applications
- Review and analyze proposed data related solutions for projects
- Contribute to formulation of strategies for applications development and other functional areas
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of how areas of business integrate to accomplish business goals
- Provide evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual data in complicated and unique situations
- Impact the Data Custodian area through monitoring delivery of end results, participate in budget management, and handling day-to-day staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work within the team/project
- Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards negotiating with external parties when necessary
- Appropriately assess risk and controls when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
- Manage Change-the-Bank (CTB) Data quality related activities for assigned application(s):
- Accountable/ responsible for confirming the safe, accurate, and controlled sourcing, transport, transformation, and storage of data within their application(s)
- Accountable/ responsible for implementation of Data Quality rules within their application(s) in coordination with Data Stewards and Business Architects by Data Domain
- Accountable/ responsible for documenting data level lineage within their application(s)
- Support Run-the-Bank (RTB) ongoing data quality management at the bank for assigned application(s)
- Accountable/ responsible for confirming the safe, accurate and controlled sourcing, transport, transformation, and storage of data within their application(s)
- Accountable/ responsible for maintaining Data Quality rules within their application(s)
- Accountable/ responsible for implementing Data Quality issue remediation in their application(s) as needed in coordination with Data Stewards
- Accountable/ responsible for maintaining data level lineage and traceability of data within their application(s)
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry experience covering full SDLC cycle and exposure to banking domain areas such as accounting, savings, deposits, loans, authentication, payments and transfers
- Exposure to Citibank and Corebanking system knowledge preferred
- Experience as senior level in Applications Development role

Data Management Activities:
- Weekly
- Coordinate with Data Stewards and other stakeholders regarding open Data Quality exceptions/ issues within their application and implement remediation as needed
- Perform Data Quality checks to ensure safe, accurate, and controlled sourcing, transport, access and storage of data within their applications
- Monthly
- Execute and provide results for Data Quality scorecards to the Data Quality Portal
- Review the data level lineage and traceability of data and communicate any changes to the applicable DGO & CDO with support from Data Stewards and Process Owners
- Quarterly
- Engage with Data Stewards & Data Providers regarding the review, maintenance and implementation of Preventive Data Quality controls to confirm data is captured correctly (e.g. maker/checker, data entry validation) and Detective Data Quality Controls to prevent Data Quality exceptions
- Coordinate with Technology & Data Stewards to ensure that the Data Lineage toolset is working as intended, including managing technical metadata and coordinating Data Lineage tasks and testing activities
- Review and update Data Quality rules in applications and confirm accuracy and availability of data for decision support, regulatory and financial reporting, and compliance monitoring, in coordination with Business Architects by Data Domain & Data Stewards
- Review and update Data Dictionaries with support from Data Stewards
- Perform Data Profiling (as needed) to discover, understand and provide transparency into inconsistencies in data, collaborating with Data Stewards
- Annually (or as required)
- Coordinate with Process Owners to maintain data in adherence with the retention guidelines
- Support Data Stewards in identification of CDEs and review and remediate discrepancies identified by CDO in impacted data sources
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
