RRB NTPC Selection Process 2023: Railway Recruitment Board every year releases a huge number of vacancies for the recruitment of thousands of candidates. This is a great opportunity for the candidates who want to secure their future by working in Railways. The total number of vacancies released by Railways for the posts of Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC), i.e., Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master in various Zonal Railways across the country.
In this article, we are discussing the detailed selection process of RRB NTPC Recruitment. The candidates must note that the CBT 1 i.e. Computer Based Test 1 is common for all the posts under railways. But the selection process from CBT 2 varies according to the post. The candidates must note the selection process mentioned below.

RRB NTPC Selection Process 2023
The RRB NTPC recruitment process will involve the following stages of examination:
- 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
- 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable)
- Document Verification/Medical Examination.
The detailed selection process according to the post has been provided below. CBT 1 is common for all the posts. The selection process differs after the CBT 1.

The candidates must go through the detailed selection process provided below. Candidates must go through the step-wise process provided below.
RRB NTPC 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
- The stage 1 exam contains 100 marks for 100 questions.
- The exam duration will be 90 minutes.
- Stage-I is of a screening nature.
- The marking scheme is 1 mark for each question.
- A negative marking of 1/3 is there.
- Normalization of marks will be done.
RRB NTPC 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
- Separate 2nd Stage CBT shall be taken for each of the 7th CPC Level i.e. Level 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 with the graded difficulty level.
- All posts falling within the same level of 7th CPC shall have a common 2nd stage CBT.
- The exam duration for PWD candidates is 120 Minutes and 90 minutes for others.
- A negative marking of 1/3 is there.
- The level of questions will be different for different levels of posts.
- The candidates selected for stage 2 will be 20 times the number of vacancies for each post.
- Normalization of marks will be done.
RRB NTPC Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- The candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master will appear for the CBAT.
- There shall be no negative marking in CBAT.
- The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.
- The shortlisting for Skill Tests such as the Computer-based Aptitude Test and Typing Skill Test is done 8 times the number of vacancies based on the merit of second stage CBT.
- The CBAT will have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi
- Merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.
RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test
- Qualifying in nature.
- Eight times the number of vacancies will be called for typing test.
- The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility.
RRB NTPC Document Verification
Based on the performance of candidates in 2nd Stage CBT and based on the performance of candidates in both 2nd Stage CBT and CBAT/TST (as applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.
RRB NTPC Medical Examination
The appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite medical examination. Candidates are tested on the basis of their physical fitness required for the post. Candidates should note that RRBs only recommend the names of selected candidates and appointment is offered by the respective RRBs.
