PSTET Exam Pattern 2023: The PSEB has released the PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 on the official website of PSTET. Understanding the PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 will help the candidates to understand the type of questions they need to answer in the exam and also the time frame within which they need to complete the exam. There will two papers in the PSTET 2023 Exam. Paper I for candidates who wish to teach the students of classes I to V and Paper II for candidates who wish to teach the students of classes VI to XII. PSTET 2023 Exam Pattern
In this article, we will be discussing the PSTET 2023 Exam Pattern in depth. The PSTET 2023 Exam that was held on 12th March 2023 was canceled as the answers were printed on the question paper. Hence, the board has decided to retake the exam. Before starting with the exam preparations, it is mandatory for the candidates to understand the PSTET 2023 Exam Pattern and PSTET 2023 Syllabus well.
The selection of the candidates will be made solely on the basis of their performance in the written exam. Candidates must note that by clearing the PSTET Exam, they will receive an eligibility certificate and this does not guarantee any job. There will be two Papers. Paper I for Primary Class teachers and Paper II for Upper Primary Class teachers. However, candidates can appear in both Paper I & Paper II. Both the papers will be for 150 marks each with a time duration of 150 minutes. The questions will be bilingual- English and Punjabi. There will be no negative marking, hence candidates can attempt as many questions as they want.

PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper II
The PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 for Paper II is for candidates who want to teach students of classes VI to XII. In Paper II, new subjects like Arts and Craft, Physical Education, Urdu, Sanskrit, Home Science, and Music have been added in addition to Mathematics & Science and Social Science. The exam duration is 150 minutes.

PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 Structure & Content of PSTET
- All questions according to the PSTET Exam Pattern 2023 will be of MCQ type.
- There will be no negative marking.
- Candidates can appear for both Paper I & Paper II.
- The test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on the educational psychology of teaching and learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years. Around 70 percent of the items would focus on the mentioned Units (a) and (b) in the syllabus while 30 percent would be related to Learning and Pedagogy.
- The test items for Language I (Punjabi) will focus on proficiencies related to the medium of instruction. Pedagogy of language development would cover 45-50 percent of the test items.
- The test items for Language II (English) will focus on the elements of language, communication, and comprehension skills. Pedagogy of language development would cover 45-50 percent of the test items.
- The test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities, and pedagogical understanding of the subjects. In both subject areas, Pedagogical understanding would cover 25-30 percent of the items.
- The questions in the test for Paper I and Paper II will be based on the topics prescribed in the syllabus of classes I to V and VI to XII respectively, but their difficulty standard as well as linkages could be up to the Secondary stage.
