The Microsoft Azure™ Compute team builds the core infrastructure and APIs that power the Microsoft Azure platform. The team handles the compute cluster management of 1000s of physical host servers, 100,000s of virtual machines, REST interfaces to deploy and manage virtual machines, and the developer and ITPro experiences for the following Azure products: Virtual Machines (VM), Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS) and Cloud Services.
We are looking for an experienced, exceptional Program Manager to set the vision and drive execution for enhancements to the software that supports the Azure compute infrastructure. In this role you will design and manage software that enables highly trustworthy computing experiences in the Azure platform. In this role, you will need to have a deep understanding virtualized environments. Experience with Windows HyperV Server is a plus.
The responsibilities will include:

  • Formulating a vision, value proposition and roadmap for improvements and enhancements to Azure compute infrastructure.
  • Guiding design and direction of the compute components, helping design for scalability and global reach.
  • Driving customer-focused engineering by planning and designing platform improvements based upon customer feedback.

The Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of software industry experience
  • At least 2 years of experience as a program or product manager
  • Deep understanding and history developing distributed and/or cloud based systems.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills (verbal, written, presentation – to peers and executives)
  • E/B. Tech in computer science, compute engineering or relevant industry experience.
  • An advanced technical degree is a plus
  • A MBA or experience managing a business is a plus
