About the Role:
We are looking for a Payroll Manager to join our fast-paced growing company in Pune, India. This individual will lead the payroll team at our Shared Service Center, managing the US team, semi-monthly payroll, (3,000 employees and growing). The ideal candidate is experienced in leading and growing a Payroll Operations and is passionate about developing innovative payroll processes utilizing technology. This position will foster relationships with various internal stakeholders by establishing and maintaining exceptional business relationships and working collaboratively with other organizational teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manager, who is expected to run day to day payroll operations, support new and existing pay programs, maintain and manage vendor relationships, while driving process automation, and adhering to the internal key controls for the payroll function. The candidate will have a strong working knowledge of US & International payroll laws both federal and state, key payroll and fiduciary compliance relevant to benefits, payroll taxes. Payroll master in reporting of Stock reportable transactions such as NQ, RSU and ESPP. This role will be part of the Accounting organization, will lead and manage reports based out of India shared service center and will be responsible for the growing US semi-monthly payroll.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Payroll and benefits process: Manage payroll processing and compliance, work closely with internal stakeholders such as accounting teams on various monthly/quarterly close activities including such as, reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Overall management and analysis of payroll operations and related activities that ensure compliance with US & International Operations for 3,000+ employees and growing.
  • Ensure proper processes are in place for capturing all inputs accurately and review payroll output from payroll team, which includes but is not limited to performing payroll analysis such as total gross payroll to net payment, average paid per headcount by cost center, and comparison of analysis to pay period end, etc.
  • Assist with managing payroll team, including day-to-day payroll deliverables, integrity of payroll data and coordination with Workday HR Operations team
  • Responsible for continuous process improvement by identifying payroll vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement and operating efficiencies
  • Employee coordination: Respond to employee inquiries and serve as liaison between employee and third-party providers.
  • Cross functional partnerships: Drive meetings with cross-functional departments (HR, IT, Legal, Finance, etc.) to identify and implement payroll process improvements and best practices to drive excellence and
  • Manage all aspects of payroll reporting, tax internal queries and ad hoc reports or projects as assigned
  • Assist with compliance matters, such as timely regulatory filings related to wage laws, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible for continuous process improvement by identifying payroll vulnerabilities and opportunities for improvement and operating efficiencies on a monthly cadence
  • Employee coordination: Respond to employee inquiries through Caretaker ticketing system. Serve as liaison between employee and payroll team. Ensuring coverage between US and India time zones.
  • Cross functional partnerships: Drive meetings with cross-functional departments (HR, IT, Legal, Finance, etc.) to identify and implement payroll process improvements and best practices to drive excellence and eliminate and or avoid foreseeable errors.
  • Experience and background with understanding payroll reporting of Stock Transactions RSU, NQ, ESPP and taxation withholding required both Federally and at a state jurisdiction.
  • Payroll policies and procedures: Develop and implement payroll processes, policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, efficiency and a great employee experience.
  • Third-parties: Manage third-party vendors and the preparation, analysis and maintenance of all payroll related reports, including governmental and regulatory filings.
  • Partnerships: Work with internal partners in People Services/Recruiting/Finance/Legal to facilitate and improve the payroll processes, including benefits and withholdings (e.g. leave of absence, employee benefits, pension plans, etc.)
  • Stakeholder management: Ability to build strong and effective relations with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong Drive for Results- Responsiveness, Speed and ability to navigate a matrix organization. Ability to interpret data to understand workload capacity and trends in service utilizing a ticketing system.
  • Compliance: Review all payroll reporting and ensure accurate and timely filing with appropriate government authorities. Support external financial audit. Manage any payroll related audits, if any.
  • Special Projects: Provide ad-hoc support and services as needed.
  • Exercises limited management authority sets employee performance objectives, conducts performance reviews and recommends pay actions
  • Defines team operating standards and ensures essential procedures are followed based on knowledge of own discipline.
  • SHIFT TIMING : 2 PM to 11:00 PM

Job Qualifications:

  • BS degree or equivalent.
  • Payroll Certification is a plus-American Payroll Association
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of end-to-end payroll processing with at least 5+ years proven management experience including companies with 1,000+ employees.
  • Experience with US payroll is required.
  • Canada experience is a plus
  • Systems: ADP WFN and advanced Excel Skills (pivot tables and lookups) preferred.
  • Systems: Workday HRIS a plus
  • Process Oriented: Strong understanding of payroll processes and best practices
  • Excellent management and organizational skills. Project Management experience is a plus
  • Technical skills: Thorough knowledge of payroll-related compliance requirements.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills needed to interface and establish rapport with all levels of the organization including executive team members.
  • A proactive, high energy attitude geared towards achieving continuous improvement
