The Technical Server Specialist is responsible for managing the lifecycle, troubleshooting and resolution of incidents and requests and project work for SPXF local business Server/PC based applications and technologies.(see list).
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manages the lifecycle (ticket generation to closure) of all in-scope incidents and service requests in line with service tickets best practice ways of working.
• Resolves incidents and fulfills service requests with high level of customer service.
• Prepare and maintain KDs for services in scope.
• Provide support, guidance & training to peers when required.
• Participate in testing for introduction of new or improved services.
• Develop knowledge base and expertise around BU application/solution portfolio.
• Administer Servers (VM & Physical) in a multiple Operating system environment to include Linux, Windows 2008 2012, 2016. This includes new builds, upgrades, and troubleshooting maintaining existing systems in the global environment.
• Investigate Server/Application/user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
• Install, configure, and maintain user computers, servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures disk drives, printers, and related equipment.
• Perform and/or oversee various software and application development, installation, and upgrades. (Fixstream, Solarwinds, Infoblox, Ivanti, etc)
• Maintain license documentation and asset management for department/organization.
• Plan and implement system security, including managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, patching and active directory (ALS) management/configuration.
• Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct errors/malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
• Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.
• Identify utilization patterns and their effect on operation/system availability and performance expectations.
• Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
• Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
• Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
• Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize system availability.
• Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the systems/applications.
• Document system/server problems and resolutions for future reference.
• Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Sound expertise with windows-based desktop, hardware, software, networking and peripherals including, but not limited to, Microsoft o365 products, desktops, laptops, VPN, printers, video conferencing, telecommunications devices / monitoring tool including mobile devices, local area network, etc.
• Good knowledge of working with a Service Desk tool such as Heat
• Strong trouble shooting and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems and languages to include UNIX, Microsoft, or similar computer networks. Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, servers, networks, and related hardware and software. Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. Ability to identify and resolve computer system/server/network malfunctions and operational problems. Skill in organizing and establishing priorities. Ability to provide technical training to end users. Ability to learn and support new systems and applications. Work with users requires interpersonal skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
• 3-5 years of experience in a related position in a corporate environment
• Bachelor Degree in IT or business related field or the recognized equivalent in work experience or self-study
• Experience with Server OS (Windows, Linux), VMWARE
Preferred Education / Experience
• Prior experience supporting users, executives and/or working in a professional environment
• Microsoft MCSE, RedHat, VMWARE
• ITIL
