NABARD Grade A 2023 Notification : Selection Process
As per NABARD Grade A Notification 2023 the recruitment process comprises three phases:
Phase 1 – Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination is the first stage and consists of a single paper with 200 questions, each carrying one mark. The duration of the exam is 120 minutes, and there is no sectional timing. Candidates are assessed on topics like reasoning, English language, computer knowledge, quantitative aptitude, decision making, general awareness, and economic and social issues with a focus on rural India. The Phase 1 exam consists of the following 8 sections:
- Test of Reasoning – 20 Questions, 20 Marks
- English Language – 30 Questions, 30 Marks
- Computer Knowledge – 20 Questions, 20 Marks
- Quantitative Aptitude – 20 Questions, 20 Marks
- Decision Making – 10 Questions, 10 Marks
- General Awareness – 20 Questions, 20 Marks *
- Economic and Social Issues (With a focus on Rural India) – 40 Questions, 40 Marks *
- Agriculture, Rural Development with emphasis on Rural India – 40 Questions, 40 Marks *
Qualifying Sections: Test of Reasoning, English Language, Computer Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude, Decision Making.
*Merit Sections: General Awareness, Economic & Social Issues (with a focus on Rural India), Agriculture & Rural Development with an emphasis on Rural India.
Shortlisting for the Main exam is based on marks scored in the Merit section only.
Phase 2 – Main Examination
The main examination includes two papers. Paper-I is a descriptive test on General English, and Paper-II is a mix of objective and descriptive questions on Economic and Social Issues and Agriculture and Rural Development. The total marks for both papers are 100 each.
Paper-I: General English (Online Descriptive) – 90 minutes, 3 questions, 100 Marks.
Paper-II: Economic and Social Issues and Agriculture and Rural Development (50% Objective, 50% Descriptive) – 30 minutes (Objective) + 90 minutes (Descriptive) = Total 120 minutes, 30 Objective questions, 4 Descriptive questions, 100 Marks.
In Paper-II, candidates are required to answer 4 out of 6 descriptive questions (2 questions of 15 marks each and 2 questions of 10 marks each).
The calling ratio to qualify for the main examination and interview is a maximum of 1:25 and 1:3, respectively. However, the bank may reduce the ratio at its discretion.
Phase 3 – Interview
Candidates who qualify in Phase 2 are shortlisted for the interview process. The interview carries 50 marks, and candidates can choose to appear in Hindi or English. Candidates are shortlisted for the interview based on their Phase 2 marks only (sum of both papers). The final selection is based on the combined marks secured in Phase 2 and the Interview.

NABARD Grade A 2023 Salary Structure
The selected candidates will be offered a basic pay of ₹44,500/- per month in the pay scale of ₹ 44,500 – 2,500 (4) – 54,500 – 2,850 (7) – 74,450 – EB – 2,850 (4) – 85,850 – 3,300(1) – 89,150 (17 years). Additionally, officers will be entitled to receive Dearness Allowance, Local Compensatory Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Grade Allowance as per the prevailing rules. As of now, the approximate initial monthly gross emoluments stand at ₹1,00,000/-.
