MPSC prelims postponed due to rising Covid-19 cases: Uddhav Thackeray

CHIEF MINISTER Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said the preliminary exams of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) have been postponed due to rising Covid-19 cases and concerns expressed by students and parents. The preliminary exams of the MPSC were scheduled to be held on Sunday.

Thackeray said the decision was taken unanimously in the meeting of all party leaders and the new dates will be announced, considering the pandemic situation in the state.

“The decision has been taken unanimously considering the candidates’ safety and their views and demands along with that of various political parties as the number of Covid-19 patients are increasing rapidly in the state,” he added.

Officials said it was clarified in the meeting that the age of the candidates at the time of filling up the forms would be taken into consideration to ensure that they face no problem.

The meeting was attended by Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Pravin Darekar, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte and senior officials of the government.
