Areas of taxes and legal entities
u2022 Group level Indirect tax responsibility. Indirect taxes consist of Goods & Services Tax (GST) and legacy Value Added Tax, Central Sales Tax, Service Tax, Excise, and local area cesses, spread across 24 states.
u2022 Monitoring of records for taxation and payments on all India basis for the group. Representation before authorities for Assessments, Audits, hearing etc. Interaction with external parties.
Business advisory
u2022 Partnering with businesses and pro-actively support in their initiatives including advising on tax implications so as to ensure an optimized and tax efficient solution in timely manner.
u2022 Provide regular updates to businesses on tax matters and on the potential impact of new/changes in laws and regulations on the compliance and businesses of Abbott. Ensure that systems and processes are implemented / amended to meet the new tax requirements.
Compliance
u2022 Ensure a healthy tax compliance in timely manner and making sure of accurate payment of taxes and filing of tax compliances on time.
u2022 Review the compliances frequently to ensure that maximum claims are made to optimize tax cost to Abbott. Reviewing the current process and focus on automation of processes to ensure the best in class practice.
Litigation management
u2022 Representation before multiple Tax Authorities during Audits, Assessments and Litigations to defend the claims made in the Returns.
Tax planning
u2022 Ideate and implement various tax planning measures for utilization of tax credits, claiming of refund of taxes, encashment of accumulated ITCs etc.
IT enhancements and Special projects
u2022 Lead and instrumentally contribute in IT and other special projects to ensure best in class automation across the IDT function and implementation in timely manner. This is one of the critical role play by the Candidate.
People management
u2022 To work closely with the team to ensure effective tax compliances, audit handling, and ensuring all data controls to focus on automation and keep upto the speed.
u2022 To deal with internal and cross functional teams to drive the projects including of automation projects.
Core Job Responsibilities
1. Legal compliances in relation to GST and old matters of VAT, Service Tax, Excise, etc.
2. Reviewing the processes and drive for automations to ensure best in class compliance processes.

3. Critical analytics skills to ensure various Tax accounting implications, like reviewing tax Receivable GLs, ensuring monthly schedules with Financials to ensure no gaps etc. Further, to ensure the Tax GL clearings on monthly basis.
4. Tax planning, research, compliance, reporting and filings, auditing, and communicating with external tax agencies.
5. Evaluate activities, policies, practices, and transactions to ensure they comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
6. Partnering with businesses to structure transactions with respect to Indirect tax issues and contribution in critical review of agreements etc.
7. Effective handling of litigations and ensure the clean outcomes.
8. Advisory services to cross functional teams in relation to GST and also for old matters on Service Tax, VAT / CST, Excise and SEZ etc.
9. Finalising the replies, appeals (including drafting) and representing before Appeallate Authorities including Commissioner (Appeals) and Tribunal (Appeals).
10. Liaisoning with Auditors, Consultants and counsels to ensure effective representation/appeals.
11. Play a critical role in IT automations and ensure multiple monthly reconciliations like E-invoice vs various GST Returns, GSTR-2B Recos, GSTR-1 vs 3B Reco, Ewaybill vs E-invoice, GSTR 2A vs 2B etc. and drive for automation of processes to accelerate the team results and making the processes system driven.
12. Effective communication with vendors to ensure clean and full ITC availability to Abbott and bridge the gaps in 2A and 2B data/reco differences with Vendors.
13. Handling internal and external audits i.e. handling SOX audits, departmental audits, assessments etc.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
1. Responsible for Indirect taxes for Abbott group in India.
2. Ensuring various Reconciliations and MIS presentation to Management.
3. Pro-active support for successful implementation of IT /Automation projects across IDT functions and its corresponding impact on Accounting.
4. Key contribution in Corporate and Business initiatives from Tax perspective.
5. Reducing litigations and strengthening compliances.
6. Responsible for sustainable and continuous growth of the team.
7. Partnering with businesses and ensuring for timely responses.
8. Clean audit reports.
Position Accountability / Scope
This position is primarily responsible for achieving CFS (Corporate Finance) goals, supporting cross functional verticals, drive IT /Automation projects, to represent company before Govt. Authorities. Accountable for delivering the aforesaid results in time bound manner.
Minimum Education
Chartered Accountant
Minimum Experience/Training Required
CA with 7-8 years in the field of Indirect Taxes in handling Indirect taxes in large manufacturing company. SAP knowledge is must. Experience in driving Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects, IT automation projects shall be given preference.
