Education/Certification
B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience required. AWS certification is a plus.

  • Manage, mentor and coach a team of up to 10 Data Warehouse DBAs
  • Plan, coordinate and delegate work assignments to team members
  • Perform hands – on data administration on several client engagements
  • Participate in gathering requirements and contribute to the architecture design of client solutions for Marketing and Analytics
  • Be proficient database administration tasks including patching, upgrades, backup and recovery, troubleshooting, performance diagnostics and tuning, and SQL optimization
  • Possess knowledge in replication to Disaster Recovery site, data encryption, backup storage and archiving procedures
  • Work with client teams in the support of development and deployment of database jobs
  • Work closely with IT, developers and competency teams to ensure that applications availability and performance are within agreed on service levels
  • Contribute to structures design, capacity and cluster expansion planning
  • Research and recommend automated approaches to DW Database administration
  • Enforce standards and best practices for availability, security, backup and recovery
  • Contribute to developing and documenting DW Database standards, guidelines and operational procedures
  • Evaluate DW Database technologies and Cloud Services and recommend to technical management
  • Perform a variety of tasks relying on experience and judgment to manage time, plan and accomplish goals on several projects
  • Manage on – call rotation for 24 x 7 x 365 support
  • 8+ years of general technology experience (preferably database administration)
  • 3+ year of experience managing Data Warehousing solutions on Netezza, Teradata, Greenplum, Vertica or similar
  • 2+ year experience managing technical teams
  • Familiarity with Cloud DW database technologies, such as AWS Redshift or Snowflake is a plus
  • Familiarity with Hadoop and or Big Data cloud services such AWS EMR or Cloudera Altus is plus
  • Ability to diagnose problems and resolve issues across various tiers (application, database, network)
  • Strong UNIX/Linux knowledge and understanding of DW MPP architecture, technologies and concepts
  • Adherence to SDLC, Change Management, troubleshooting and development methodologies
  • Strong leadership and inter – personal skills to manage and mentor direct reports
  • Superb analytical and problem – solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
