Ourclient is one of India’s top three distributors of school books to schools and students. Ourclient serves students of several hundred schools across India. We have been in business for more than seventy years, with our HO in Hyderabad.
We are totally professionalised, with a top team of talented professionals as our CxO team. We are also one of the most modern businesses in our sector in India in our use of cool tech. Our core business information has been entirely computerised and runs on an enterprise-grade ERP system hosted on Azure cloud. We have a Magento-based e-commerce system which allows parents of students to place orders for books etc. This system, which forms a small part of our overall reach, has served over 40,000 students last year. Since demand for school books is seasonal, our e-commerce system accepts orders at the rate of a few orders per second during peak times, and our back-office processes 2,000 orders per day. We use custom-built mobile apps running on tabs, for our warehouse and Distribution Centre staff to perform key operations. These apps connect to our central ERP system in real time and update stock positions and goods movements. All our sites are interconnected.
Going forward, we expect to have a two-pronged tech stack which will use (a) MS Windows and MS Dynamics on the ERP side, and (b) custom software and applications using OSS tools on Linux. We are exploring PHP and NodeJS as server-side tech stacks, Angular for front-end code for browser interfaces and Ionic for mobile apps. Our mobile apps will be using hybrid dev technologies, which as you know is the hottest area of new platform development. PHP will remain a key technology for us as long as we work with Magento, with which we have a 4-year history already.
