The Role Responsibilities

  • The Rapid Development (RAD) Team are a small group of hybrid analyst-developers who create and support a range of in-house applications and End User Compliant (EUC) solutions, most frequently for Product Control and wider Finance and Regulatory teams.
  • The Team work alongside larger transformational programme like Aspire, using their skills and infrastructure to provide tactical &ldquolast-mile&rdquo solutions and to build working prototypes in advance of strategic deliveries.
  • The RAD infrastructure comprises around half a dozen Windows servers, running SQL, SSAS and SSIS with additional software like the on-premise version PowerBI, which will be soon be supplemented with development environments on Azure.
  • The Team is expanding it&rsquos offering into Client MI, which is intended to be built on a scalable Azure cloud-based platform, using intelligent entity management and data modelling, and reporting via PowerBI. This should give users a fast and efficient interface to interrogate large datasets with a complex set of input parameters.
  • The Team is based in three main locations &ndash London, Singapore and seeking to expand further in Bangalore.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Successful candidates will be highly proficient in SQL and have extensive experience working with related SQL products (SSIS, SSAS MD, SSAS Tabular) and be comfortable building, supporting and enhancing applications to meet the user requirements
  • There is a BI element to the role, so a good knowledge of multi-dimensional and tabular models is preferred, alongside experience of popular BI tools like PowerBI, Tableau and/or Qlikview
  • Candidates are expected to be comfortable working directly with the users to understand requirements, offer strategic advice and rapidly iterate through versions of the solution
  • Candidates are also expected to be able to support &ldquoBusiness-As-Usual&rdquo (BAU) activities, gaining a good initial understanding from on-the-job training/wiki and then quickly investigating and resolving issues across the Rapid Team applications, on a timely basis

Business

  • The Team work primarily support Finance and Product Control, and mainly within the context of Financial Markets.
  • Some knowledge of Financial Markets, Finance or Product Control would be useful but not essential

Processes

  • Extensive knowledge of SQL
  • Some understanding of database maintenance (backups, indexes)
  • Good understanding of Windows-based security (Local Windows Groups/Domain Groups), along with SSAS role-based security
  • Practical experience working with SSIS, developing and managing robust ETL processes
  • A good understanding and practical experience of entity management and data modelling within a BI/MIS context
  • Familiarity with BI tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, Qlikview or Microstrategy
  • Some knowledge and understanding of web-development would be useful

  • Expected to work closely with colleagues in Bangalore, sharing knowledge and ideas and ensuring BAU support is managed on a timely basis
