IT Trainer – Public Safety (Home Based)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an IT Trainer to join our forward thinking training team. This is an external facing role designing and delivering IT education and training services to enable customers to gain maximum understanding of our innovative Public Safety software products.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Trainer, your main responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
delivering training programmes to clients either in a group classroom setting or online through virtual webinars or on a one-to-one basis;
conducting training needs analysis
designing course materials and other documents such as handouts, manuals and exercises to suit a wide audience ranging from end users to system administrators
developing train-the-trainer packages.
Preparing the learning environment and resources, including setting up IT equipment;
organising and marketing courses to meet the needs of learners and demands of business
supporting projects with any training consultancy required to define training strategies for our customers
supporting and coaching learners using a learning portal or self-learning packages
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training and course outcomes;
liaising with external course providers, employers, clients, examining bodies and software companies, etc.
taking responsibility for maintenance of hardware and software used for training purposes and recommending repairs and upgrades to management where appropriate;
keeping up to date with relevant systems, software and online training technology;
dealing with administrative records.
Qualifications
Software & Knowledge
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoint etc).
Proficient in the use of Google applications (Gmail, Drive, Sheets etc)
Knowledge of online training delivery solutions, such as WebEx, Google Meets and Teams
Knowledge of training methodologies and learning styles
Knowledge of training design principles
Knowledge of learning evaluation methods
Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (preferably Moodle/Totara)
Essential
Experience of:
design and development of high quality training packages using various training development methodologies (e.g. ADDIE) for different delivery formats (e.g. classroom, virtual)
developing training strategies to meet needs of customers training needs
learning and delivering training on software packages
conducting training needs analysis
Experience of developing engaging e-learning content and media for LMS
Desirable
Any public safety (such as police, prison, control room) market experience
Any CIPD or other professional training body recognised qualification
Knowledge of Madcap Flare
Knowledge of Adobe Captivate or Storyline and Camtasia
Knowledge of screen capture tools (e.g. SnagIt)
Personal skills
Have a strong passion for delivering creative, high quality, engaging training to diverse audiences at all levels
Interpersonal skills that enable you to engage with people at all levels, motivate others and change people’s attitudes when necessary
Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Demonstrate excellent team working ability
Have great attention to detail
Be proactive and self motivated
Demonstrate the ability to plan and manage your time and to meet deadlines and objectives
Good personal presentation as well as presentation skills
Have a personal commitment to continually improve your own knowledge and skills and keep up to date with the latest developments in the industry
Must be able to deal with customers even under pressure and maintain a professional outlook at all times.
A willingness to learn and a can do attitude
Additional Information
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the EU. Documentary evidence will be required.
All offers are subject to satisfactory vetting and reference checks. Depending on the nature of the role a Data Barring Service (DBS) check may also be required. Must have or be able to gain NPPV or SC security clearance
