International Girl Child Day is celebrated every year on 11th October all over the world. The main aim of celebrating Girl Child is to focus on the importance of education for girls, their rights and empowerment. It is also called Day of the Girls and Girl’s Day. The celebration of the International Girl Child Day also reflects the successful emergence of girls and women as distinct companions in development policy, programming, campaigning and research. International Day of the Girl promotes awareness of various issues faced by girls and women around the world. International Girl Child Day History
11th October 2012 is declared as International Girl Child Day by the United Nations and it is celebrated every year on 11th October in the whole world. At the World Conference which was held in 1995 in Beijing, countries without any opposition adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Beijing’s Declaration became the first policy specially for the rights of the girl child. The United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution to declare 11th October the International Girl Child Day with the aim of raising the voice for the girl’s right and empowerment globally.

The significance of organizing The International Girl Child Day is to treat the girls equally in every field like boys. Earlier, the girls did not have their own rights like right to education, they did not raise their voice for any issues faced by them and many others. In backward areas still girls are facing many issues related to education, marriage, etc. If girls are supported during the adolescence, they have the potential to change the world and now the Girls are ahead in every field.
