90 : GIS – Centralized API Services Framework/Catalog Development

Position Summary
Lilly IDS plays a key role in delivering solutions and services across our internal organizations. As part of Lilly’s Enterprise Architecture organization, this role will work with the various business area architects, the information architects, and solution delivery teams to understand integration requirements and develop API services, reusable artifacts and support development of data driven solutions across the enterprise. This role will work collaboratively to help establish, document, and maintain that guidance, as well.
This position will report to Advisor, Enterprise Architecture.

  • Work with the enterprise architecture team to develop process(es)/tool(s) to collect and catalog enterprise-wide API services (‘establish Lilly-wide service catalog’)
  • Partner across the organization to populate the API catalog – collecting standardized metadata including business area, business capabilities, relevant technology info, etc. – for both internal and external solutions
  • Provide the means to generate an industry-standard, machine readable definition for enterprise APIs (e.g. OpenAPI)
  • Create and maintain API patterns and practices for use by local IT teams when developing or sourcing solutions
  • Develop an enterprise-wide capability to query the API catalog and retrieve relevant business, data, and technology information
  • Survey internal stakeholders to understand API current state and future state needs
  • Help identify and develop related capabilities – including automatic internal and cloud API discoverability, internal API cost models, consistent API support models, API governance, etc.
  • Proactively and regularly communicate on API topics
  • Work as a ‘Master Data Management’ professional for APIs

Required Experience:

  • 4+ years of enterprise API management experience (including activities like API discovery, publication, cataloging, and consumption)
  • Experience with API-related standards (REST, OpenAPI, etc.)
  • Experience with various API tools (Swagger, Postman, JMeter, AnyPoint API Manager, etc.)
  • Familiarity with various API integration patterns and platforms (including integration platform as a service (iPaaS) platforms like MuleSoft, Boomi, SAP Cloud. etc.)
  • Familiarity with API-first architecture and integration
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Skills and Preferences

  • Experience with enterprise API management tools and platforms
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying API-based services or solutions
  • Familiarity with API automation tools and techniques – including automatic documentation generation, automated testing, automated builds, automated deployments, etc.
  • Experience with architecture and technology governance processes
  • Experience with API versioning techniques and best practices
  • Development of written patterns and best practices
  • Architecture and/or development experience with solutions built using API integration platforms (iPaaS, Fuse ESB, etc.)
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodology (i.e. Lean, SAFe, Scrum, etc.)
  • Public cloud (AWS, Azure, etc) architecture experience
