Responsibilities:
1. Maintain database systems with high availability and quality.
2. Minimise database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
3. Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
4. Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
5. Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.
6. Design and implement database in accordance to end users information needs and views.
7. Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security.
Skills:
1. Problem-solving and good analytical skills.
2. Communication, teamwork and negotiation skills.
3. Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design.
4. The ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
5. Good organisational skills.
6. Flexibility and adaptability in completing the deliverables.
7. The ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with all of the stakeholders in projects.
8. Willingness to keep up to date with developments in new technology.
10. Understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act
