Database AdministratorJob Description
You are responsible for
- Handle the creation of, patching and managing database servers.
- Duties include automation of installation / configuration / management of various database technologies.
- Providing guidance for migrating database technologies to the cloud, options available.
- Configure and quote cloud service provider database systems.
- Responsible for maintaining / updating the monitoring tools to monitor databases as well as business transactions.
- Lifecycle management of database systems in production public cloud environment.
- Identify performance bottlenecks, locks, blocks, and deadlocks.
- Oversee implementation /support and identity management, authentication, authorization, Token Services for federated single sign-on using technologies, such as SAML, OAuth, LDAP, Active Directory.
- Troubleshoot production SaaS events / issues, including cloud infrastructure components.
- Collaborate with customers to maintain test / staging / production environments to meet uptime, performance, cost, and security goals.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BA / BS) in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or related field preferred or equivalent experience with at least 10 years of experience working on a 24×7 Cloud or supporting large-scale SaaS production operations.
- Experience in working within a production cloud environment (AWS or similar).
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Experience with Cloud Infrastructure & Application monitoring tools.
- Requires highly effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Use of automation to perform day-to-day support functions.
- Experience with information and application security including public key encryption, SSH, access credentials, and X.509 certificates.
- Experience using and troubleshooting the following Technologies/Protocols:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Server Operating Systems – Windows/Linux
- TCP/IP networking
- Experience applying the following skill sets:
- SQL Query / Report Creation
- Scripting
We are looking for:
- Deep knowledge of RDBMS (RDS, Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server) and NoSQL Database or related Technologies.
- Understanding of networking concepts such as route tables, access control lists, firewalls, NAT, HTTP, DNS, IP and Web Application firewalls.
- Demonstrated expertise with query languages.
- Knowledge of ITIL methodologies and how it applies to daily operations.
- Experience with pulling, tracking and organizing work into sprints.
- Familiarity with healthcare industry.
- AWS Operations certification.
- Customer service mindset.
- Technical curiosity.
