About Us
Nagaland Police comes under direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government
of Nagaland. Nagaland Police is headed by a Director General of Police (DGP). The
DGP is assisted by several other senior officers in the rank of ADGPs, IGPs, DIGs,
AIGs and SPs. Nagaland Police Headquarter (PHQ) is located at P.R.Hill, Kohima,
Nagaland.
Police force in each district, known as “District Executive Force” (DEF) is headed
by Superintendent of Police except for Dimapur, which is headed by Commissioner
of Police. Sub-Divisions under each district is headed by “Sub-Division Police Officer”
(SDPO), except for Dimapur district which have zones headed by Assistant Commissioner
of Police (ACP).
Nagaland Police has also introduced “Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems”
or CCTNS Project, which is an IT project by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt.
of India for the police department across the country. With the implementation of
CCTNS, all Police Stations and Higher Police Offices in the State and across the
Country is being computerized and networked for efficient policing using ICT. Citizen
Portal, which is a part of CCTNS project, envisages to provide citizen centric services
to the public for easier access to services required from the police department.
