JOB PURPOSE:

The main function of this role will be to:

  • Liaise with VC counterparts and other stakeholders to coordinate efforts complete the prudent valuation return on time.
  • The role will require involvement in methodology discussions, liaising with heads to ensure that SCB meets regulatory standards.
  • Drive the implementation of prudent valuation adjustment requirements for various regulators.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulate the valuation adjustments and price testing policies, including that for prudent/regulatory valuation.
  • Drive the implementation of prudent valuation adjustment requirements for various regulators (FSA, HKMA and RBI)
  • Perform ad hoc valuation analysis as required by Head of Valuation Control.
  • 4. Increase the interaction with external stakeholders e.g. Auditors as well as the regulators, to ensure that we can support the planned business growth and to ensure optimal capital usage by helping the key businesses obtain/retain IMA approvals.
  • Production of monthly VBC and quarterly PVA packs.

  • GMR Market Risk Capital and Regulatory Affairs
  • Regulatory Reporting
  • Group Treasury

External:

  • KPMG (audit %26amp; advisory)
  • Regulatory bodies as necessary (mainly FSA, RBI, HKMA)

CONTRIBUTES TO:

  • A first-class finance / Valuation Control division, which continually seeks to challenge and improve standards.
  • Driving closer alignment between Product Control and Valuation control.
  • Positioning of Valuation Control as a more business focused function with a strong understanding of the business and its drivers.
  • A strong internal control environment, which will ensure the business continues to grow in a stable and well controlled manner.

AUTHORITIES:

  • As appropriate when managing direct report(s).
  • As delegated by the CCIB CFO.

JUDGEMENT/ COMPLEXITY:

  • Strong sense of integrity and financial independence is required.
  • Detailed product knowledge, fully conversant with industry and accounting issues, valuation techniques, liquidity and risk issues etc.

KNOW HOW AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educated to degree level; preferably with a Finance / Business OR Financial Engineering background OR Master’s degree in a quantitative subject.
  • Experience of Global Markets Valuation.
  • Ability to work under constant pressure to tight deadlines and deliver high quality output.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels both written (report and guideline writing) and verbally.
  • Analytical, Attention to detail and challenging mindset.
