Job Description :
Provide analytical support across all areas of Retail Products and Segments; work with stakeholders from all levels and inform critical business decisions.
Play a key role in the development of the Finance Analytics approach and strategy
Work closely with stakeholders to understand business problems and develop technical and/or analytical solutions which meet needs
Clearly articulate proposed solutions based on a knowledge of the business context achieved through on-going communication
Proactively identify and deliver on opportunities which create financial and business models that add significant tangible value aligned to the business strategy
What will you be doing
Understand the complex business requirements needed to overcome financial and regulatory challenges and bring problem solving skills to document requirements, develop technical solutions and produce high quality outputs encompassing models, reports and proposals
Carry out data mining and modelling of customer and product profitability data. Develop self-serve tools to facilitate stakeholders in extracting useful insights from our database.
Continuously monitor financial performance and provide useful insights to stakeholders for driving improvement in business performance.
Conduct Ad hoc analysis to inform business critical decisions.
Own the BAU processes which are critical to stakeholders who use our data for reporting and modelling purposes. Oversee the input assumptions into the models and create process, controls around the assumptions.
Automate manual BAU processes or migrate to IT to improve productivity.
Build effective stakeholder relationships across finance and beyond
Proactively introduce best practice knowledge sharing to within the team (processes & data) including regular knowledge sharing sessions, documenting new data sources and processes, onshore and offshore shadowing
Document all work to a high standard with re-use in mind.
Support the team as a Subject Matter Expert in various business, finance and technical areas including demonstrating an excellent understanding of data across BIW. Act as a single point of contact for analytical queries both for offshore and onshore teams, providing guidance and assistance to colleagues in respect of data and reporting needs
What we’re looking for:
High level of proficiency in SQL(Teradata) and SAS (Grid, Base, Enterprise Guide, Macro), Python or similar
Strong natural drive for precision and data reconciliation procedures
Strong skills in managing complex voluminous financial data sets and problem solving skills
Articulate, possessing strong influencing and negotiating skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple business manner
Excellent command of verbal and written English
Ability to work under pressure and to tight timetables.
Strong planning & organisational skills
Advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) skills
Skilled at manipulating data sources in multiple environments (UNIX, DW)
Familiar with financial solution packages like Essbase, SAP BW, Cognos etc.
Skills that will help you in the role:
Post graduate qualification in a numerate/information discipline desirable
Proficiency in visualisation, scoping and design of a diverse range of data needs.
