Summary Description:
This role supports the Tax function in managing the Indirect Tax compliance processes of North Americas, EMEA and APAC countries. Prepare, analyse, reconcile, review and submit Indirect Tax returns in a compliant and cost effective manner. The individual would bring subject matter expertise to solve critical business problems, promote continuous improvement and best practices in the group, and independently drive and manage all the deliverables.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist the management in Indirect Tax Compliance, Reporting and Accounting processes across multiple countries
  • Maintain full responsibility for timely preparation and eventual filing of various indirect tax returns along with the relevant tax journal entries and document retention and electronic archiving of the various Tax deliverables.
  • Effectively review all deliverables of other staff members
  • Proactively review and analyze the procedures and develop best practice standards, providing high quality and timely Indirect Tax return services.
  • Monitor and proactively follow-up on the progress of the activities being completed by teams outside of the GBS structure (Tax and External Providers).
  • Follow Indirect tax law changes, and, if necessary, implement the changes in the return preparation process
  • Work alongside the project delivery team to support the development of formal process documentation, work instructions and desktop procedures for the tax process areas being transitioned to GBS and assist in implementing the return preparation process in line with the project transition plan.
  • Support management’s efforts in the ongoing and new transitions in GBS Tax and stabilization of existing processes.
  • Support the Indirect tax audits (both internal and external) across the region
  • Maintain up-to-date process manuals, checklists and deadline listings.
  • Have recurring touchpoints with the local/regional Tax Managers to provide status updates, discuss potential issues, and identify areas of opportunity to improve processes proactively
  • Manage resources of the team; set priorities, conduct daily team huddle and plan work load to meet deadlines and achieve process TAT and SLA’s
  • Take full ownership and accountability as primary point of contact for all the indirect tax processes transitioned
  • Ensures all team members are trained on new procedures and create back-up plans
  • Collaborate across functions to resolve issues and for process improvement
  • Adhere to Internal Controls of the Process and Organization

Work Experience: Minimum 6-8 years of Indirect tax experience gained either in a professional firm, or multi-national company with strong verbal and written communication skills along with experience in managing a team. Experience in using Oracle would be advantageous.
Education/Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business is required with an emphasis in Accounting or Taxation preferred. Knowledge of Financial Services Industry preferred.
License/Registration/Certification: Certified Public Accountancy or Charted Accountancy a plus.
