Accountant
Job Posting Title: Accountant – Rebates & Incentives Accounting
Job Overview:
• Support accounting functions within the Rebates and Incentives (R&I) accounting process
• Support transition of R&I accounting and payment processing work from existing internal owners into a centralized team
• R&I payment validation and processing function
• Creation of new deals and incentives in Mastercard Contra Revenue System (CRS)
• Perform account reconciliations
• Prepare period-by-period analysis and explain significant account variances
• Monitor compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures and with all regulatory requirements
• Keep abreast of changes to accounting requirements to ensure ongoing compliance
Role:
• Review executed contracts and create customers, deals and incentives in the Mastercard Contra Revenue System (CRS)
• Create and maintain Deal Workbooks and report periodically on deal performance
• Accomplish timely, accurate close of the CRS sub ledger and Oracle general ledger, including creation and review of journal entries
• Identify and prepare manual journal entries through the analysis of close results, trends and actual to budget/forecast
• Perform detailed review of rebate and incentive payment requests including contract review and validation of driver data to various internal systems
• Provide overall support and customer service to business partners located throughout the Mastercard Worldwide organization
• Monitor performance indicators to track progress against goals
• Perform various ad-hoc reporting, analysis or projects, as needed
• Partner with financial systems regarding CRS requirements, data, reporting, and functionality
• Support SOX control compliance
• Support global processes, primarily focusing on the Asia Pacific region which may require early start times to address customer needs real-time
• Other duties as required
All About You:
Education/Certification:
• Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• ICWA / CA, preferred
Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
• Knowledge of US GAAP and current accounting concepts
• Prior revenue, contra revenue, and/or contract management experience, preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Robust understanding of MS Excel and financial/ERP systems, preferably direct experience with Oracle
• Progressive accounting experience preferably in a large, global environment
• Ability to deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment with attention to deadline constraints
• Prior experience in supporting business process transitions and process improvements projects
• Capable of working within a changing environment with excellent analytical, planning and organization skills
