“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.”
Teachers Day, celebrated annually on 05th September 2023 is a special occasion dedicated to honor our teachers for their unwavering dedication to our education. While our parents provide us with love and care, it is our teachers who play a pivotal role in shaping our future. They empower us to enhance our knowledge, skills, and self-confidence, propelling us toward success. Teachers not only guide and inspire us but also mold our thinking, unlocking endless opportunities for our future. In essence, teachers are the guiding lights without whom the world, both within and beyond, would be unimaginable.
Do you know why Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5th September?
Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5th in India as a mark of tribute to the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. It is a day to celebrate the effortless contribution of teachers in shaping the future of our nation. The tradition of celebrating the Teachers began on 05th September 1962.
When Radhakrishnan became the President of India in 1962, some of his students and friends requested him to let them celebrate his birthday. In response, Dr. Radhakrishnan humbly suggested, “I would be honored if you celebrated my birthday as a mark of respect to all the educators across the country, that is, Teachers’ Day.” This choice reveals his deep-seated love and reverence for the teaching profession. Consequently, September 5th has been designated as Teachers’ Day in India since then.
Significance of Teachers Day
Teachers are indeed the embodiment of knowledge, enlightenment, and prosperity, illuminating our paths and preparing us for the challenges of real life. They are the guiding lights in our lives, and it’s crucial to recognize their value and celebrate Teachers’ Day every year as a token of our appreciation. Teachers hold a special place in our hearts, often more than our parents, as they shape our minds for success and instill in us the values that lead to it. Their happiness lies in the success of their dedicated students.
Teachers invest their heart and soul into nurturing a student’s career and supporting them through life’s difficulties. They play a pivotal role in shaping a person’s future and providing invaluable guidance. Teachers’ Day serves as an opportunity for us to express our gratitude and pay tribute not only to our own teachers but also to all those who have offered us unwavering guidance and selfless efforts to help us thrive in this world.
