AFCAT 2023: The Indian Air Force on Thursday began the application process for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2023 for flying branches and ground duty (technical and non-technical) branches. Interested and eligible candidates can apply at the official website— afcat.cdac.in.

The online AFCAT 2023 will be conducted on August 25, 26 and 27 and the courses will commence in July 2024. The admission process will have two stages— written and SSB test.

There are five vacancies for men and six for women in the flying course. For Ground Duty (Technical), there are 98 vacancies for men and 11 for women in AE(L) and in AE(M) there are 38 vacancies for men and 4 for women.

For the non technical staff (ground duty), there are 15 vacancies for men in the weapon system branch for men and 2 for women. There are 45 vacancies in admin for men and 5 for women. There are 17 vacancies for Lgs for men and two Administration and Logistics vacancies for women. There are 10 positions in the Accounts Branch, out of which 8 are for men and 2 are for women. There are 9 positions each for Education and Meteorology, out of which both have 7 posts for men 2 for women.

10 per cent of seats for both CDSE and AFCAT vacancies are reserved for NCC Special Entry.

“One seat is reserved for Law qualified candidates in Ground duty (NonTech) branches and these candidates may get employed on legal duties of the IAF (after commissioning),” read the official notice.

AFCAT 2023: How to apply

Step 1: Visit the official website— afcat.cdac.in

Step 2: Click on new registration and register filling your basic details

Step 3: Once registered, login using your registration number and password and create a new password

Step 4: Fill the remaining application form

Step 5: Save, submit and pay the fees

Step 6: Download the application form for future reference

The application fee is non-refundable and candidates will have to pay 250 as the fees.

AFCAT 2023: Eligibility criteria

The basic criteria for applying include that the candidate must be a citizen of India as per the Indian Citizenship Act 1955. The candidate who has applied for the flying branch either through AFCAT or NCC should be between the age of 20 to 24 years. They should be born between July 2, 2000 to July 1, 2024. The upper age limit for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot License by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years, i.e., they can be born between July 2, 1998 to July 1, 2024 (both dates inclusive).

Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branch shall be between the age 20 to 26 years. They should be born between July 2, 1998 to July 1, 2004 (both dates inclusive).

The candidates should be unmarried at the time of commencement of course and neither can they marry during the training period. The date of birth should be same as on Matriculation or SSC certificate. The remaining qualification are available on the official website— afcat.cdac.in.
