What you’ll achieve
As a Senior 5G Software Engineer (Central Unit), you will be a key member of a brand new, build from the ground up, high powered Bangalore R&D team. The team will work as part of our global 5G R&D organization designing, developing, and implementing a O-RAN compliant 5G NR RAN solution and we are looking for talented software engineers to take part in this once in a lifetime opportunity.If you enjoy working on a new product, new software, new team, deep desire to learn and collaborate with others, then we want to hear from you.
You will:
- Work as a key member of an agile scrum team, participate in design and implementation of the CUin 5G RAN
- Own one or more sub-system of the CU solution under development
- Work closely with Architects and System engineers
- Work with 3GPP and O-RAN specifications
- Help train and mentor junior team members
- Develop automated tests using simulators for CU
- Work to identify and drive improvements, contribute towards integration and test automation
- Work closely with the verification group to ensure the completeness, quality and performance of the implemented CU functionality

Essential Requirements
- Experience with Lean Agile
- Experience with Scrum
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a geographically distributed project team
- Familiarity with CI/CD principles
- Experience working with Linux
- Open to mentoring
- Proficient in C or/and C++
- Excellent understanding of LTE and/or 5G RAN architecture, protocols, and procedures
- Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards and protocols
- Working knowledge of 4G/5G Layer-3 protocols with emphasis on RRC, PDCP layers (CU) – Call processing, mobility, PDU Session handling, QoS, Ciphering.Working experience with embedded debugging tools like Wireshark, gdb
- 6+ years experience working on development of carrier grade telecommunications products.
Desirable Requirements
- Knowledge of O-RAN specifications specially on WG4 CUS and M-Plane
- Knowledge of DPDK
- Knowledge of 5G NR Functional Splits
- Experience with working in cloud native environment
- Experience with test and automation tools
- Experience with debugging field issues
- Experience working in a startup type environment would be an asset
