The Role Responsibilities

  • This role holder is an individual contributor that provides the relevant support to Programme Management Team for Integration Journey, FSTS T&I for Standard Chartered Bank. The Scrum Master maintains a high-level view, helping teams to understand both organizational and technical dependencies while avoiding chokepoints. This creates a culture of accountability and enables teams to meet critical deadlines.

Implement Project Management/Best Practices using Agile Engineering Practices

  • The Scrum Master is responsible for creating and onboarding project teams, integrating them into the organization and providing a clear vision of the product.
  • The Scrum Master also facilitates communication and information exchange between external groups and the project team.
  • They also monitor project progress, provide timely feedback, and drive a culture of agility and learning.
  • The Scrum Master hosts daily team meetings to get updates on the progress of the project, address potential roadblocks, and ensure that the project is on track.
  • They also host regular sessions to share updates with product stakeholders about how the project is progressing (or not). Ultimately, it&rsquos a Scrum Master&rsquos job to ensure that the team is meeting deadlines with the desired outcome.
  • To improve efficiency, Scrum Masters encourage the use of continuous integration (CI) and automation to reduces the risk, time, and effort associated with traditional development methods.
  • Another agile technique Scrum Masters advocate is &ldquopair programming&rdquo, where two developers collaborate in real-time and at the same workstation to reduce development time and improve the architecture and quality of the product.

Effective Communication- Keep all Parties on Track and Informed about project progress
The day to day responsibilities of Scrum Master will include:

  • Ensuring the Agile Delivery Team&rsquos work complies with PMS and SDF Agile for the Bank
  • Facilitates Agile ceremonies, including Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Demo, Sprint Retrospective and Sprint Planning.
  • Removes obstacles or impediments to the team&rsquos progress, mitigating and resolving risks and issues which may impair delivery.
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work. Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
  • The Scrum Master helps those outside the Scrum Team understand which of their interactions with the Scrum Team are helpful and which aren&rsquot. The SM helps everyone change these interactions to maximise the value created by the Scrum Team.
  • Supports Product Owner in Backlog Refinement, e.g. by proposing techniques for effective Backlog management and maximise its value.
  • Educating and coaching the Agile Delivery Team and stakeholders on Scrum/Agile principles
  • Provides a deeper understanding of the team&rsquos reporting and delivery (Burn-up /downs etc). For Agile Deliveries, the SM is responsible for ensuring progress is made.
  • Guides the team in process improvement, helps them to identify its strengths and weaknesses and achieve optimum productivity.
  • Agile Community – Supports the agile transformation together with Agile Working Group and actively participates in communities to share learnings.
  • Contributes in Scrum of Scrums (where applicable) to resolve blockers, propose improvements & discuss lessons learnt.
  • &quotPrepare all applicable documentation and project deliverables required to ensure adherence to relevant project management standards.
  • Attend forums to provide stakeholders with feedback on progress of the Team. This will include:
  • Status reporting / ensuring all submissions to forums/committees are of the right quality and are timely.
  • Raising impediments which could not be resolved within the teams for discussion and resolution
  • Ensuring that metrics presented are accurate and up to date, and that the he/she is prepared for questions posed by the stakeholders
  • Clearly articulating all items which require priority calls to be made, as well as any requests for additional support required (e.g. resources)&quot
  • Ensure that all systems (e.g. JIRA, Clarity etc) containing data on the Product Backlog are kept accurate and up to date. Perform reviews of system metrics before any cut-off prior to Refinement meetings to ensure there are no data discrepancies / correct anomalies
  • Ensuring that all submissions to committees (AED, Red packs, Closure Reports, etc.) are of the right quality and are timely. Support the PO to ensure Clarity is up to date including Agile Delivery static data, status update including RAG status, key milestones, financials, risks, dependencies, issues and resource forecasts, and they are tracked & reported to applicable forums
  • Own the metrics (financial and/or non-financial) articulated during theinitial estimationprocess for each initiative, ensuring they are monitored throughout the lifecycle and ultimately delivered.
  • Ensuring that all submissions to committees (AED, Red packs, Closure Reports, etc.) are of the right quality and are timely. Support the PO to ensure Clarity is up to date including Agile Delivery static data, status update including RAG status, key milestones, financials, risks, dependencies, issues and resource forecasts, and they are tracked & reported to applicable forums

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The incumbent will ideally require a combination of Project Management experience following Agile methodology, specialized in middleware products and clear understanding of functional flows related to Retail Banking, Corporate and Institutional Banking (&ldquoCIB&rdquo) products (Correspondent Banking, Trade Finance, Securities Services, Corporate Finance, etc.). The goal is to have a diverse team within Integration Services Global Technology team, who have a unique combination of expertise and experience within middleware, messaging queues and related products.

The incumbent will ideally possess the following specific experiences:

  • 10+ years of experience in an international banking environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Middleware systems and/or Messaging Queues and / or 5+ years of experience in API framework and / or Cloud implementation within a global bank.
  • The role holder needs to possess extensive change and programme management experience, ideally gained in a software / infrastructure development environment using Agile ways of Working
  • Scrum Master Certification is desired
  • People and process management skills, ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders at appropriate level ensuring open collaborative environment.
  • Ability to deliver outcomes efficiently despite complexity and ambiguity
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills – both internal and external across multiple jurisdictions
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
