The Role Responsibilities
The Scrum Master’s (SM) key objective is to ensure that Scrum is understood and enacted, and to maximize the value created by the Scrum Team. The Scrum Master typically serves a single Scrum Team and the organization as a servant leader, facilitator, teacher, coach, mentor, manager, impediment remover and change agent.
The Scrum Master …

  • Facilitates Agile ceremonies, including Daily Team Standup, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Demo, Sprint Retrospective and Sprint Planning.
  • Removes obstacles or impediments to the team&rsquos progress, escalates to Product Owner and Lead Scrum Master as required.
  • Coaches & mentors team members in adopting Agile practices and a truly Agile mindset including ownership, self-organisation & continuous improvement.
  • Creates a collaborative environment by coaching the team to employ Agile best practices, ensures all tools and methods in place for teams&rsquo success.
  • Guides the team in process improvement, helps them to identify its strengths and weaknesses and achieve optimum productivity.
  • Supports team by liaising with 3rd parties, inspecting daily progress towards Sprint Goal and maintaining Agile Metrics and tools.
  • Supports Product Owner in Backlog Refinement, e.g. by proposing techniques for effective Backlog management.
  • Contributes in Product Inception Workshop to define product and Scrum of Scrums (where applicable) to resolve blockers, propose improvements & discuss lessons learnt.

  • Liquidity [Agile Scrum Team] Product Owner, Delivery Team (Engineers, QA Managers, etc)
  • Liquidity Accountable Executive, Programme Manager, Delivery and Transformations Lead, Product SME, Agile Coach
  • Liquidity – applicable internal technology stakeholders
  • Liquidity – applicable internal business stakeholders and support functions (e.g. regional and country stakeholders, Audit, Legal & Compliance, etc)
  • Applicable external 3rd party stakeholders (e.g. vendor partners, technology stakeholders, etc)

Our Ideal Candidate

  • The Scrum Master is a collaborative and empowering servant leader with exceptional facilitation, issue-solving and communication skills, organisational proficiency, people and conduct management capabilities.
  • Successful SCB Scrum Masters typically benefit from substantial experience in Scrum Master, operational (e.g. programme/ project) management or delivery roles within the financial or tech industries and strong knowledge of the Agile Scrum framework. Knowledge of and/ or experience with other Agile frameworks (e.g. Kanban, Lean, Extreme Programming, LeSS, SAFe) highly desirable.
  • Scrum Master certification desirable, such as CSM (Certified Scrum Master). Additional agile certifications will be regarded as a bonus, e.g. CSP (Certified Scrum Professional), CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner), PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner), PMI-ACP (PMI Agile Certified Practitioner), etc.
