PRIMARY FUNCTION:
This position supports the activities of the accounting operations function that leads corporate financial accounting, compliance and governance throughout EMEA. The role is based in Morges, Switzerland.
The role provides financial expertise on areas such as accounting (Swiss statutory and US-GAAP), audit, compliance and training for region wide processes under the responsibility of the EMEA Accounting Operations group.
It supports as well the EMEA Accounting Operations Group in its role to set and streamline proper financial control and compliance framework for Eaton activities in the region, offering management and a comprehensive set of financial and risk management tools.
The role provides specific financial expertise on Swiss statutory and US-GAAP, audit and compliance for the Eaton legal entities in Switzerland, Romania and Mauritius.
This position will work closely with various EMEA Corporate Departments (Tax, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, SCM) and Operating divisions, as well as Global Financial Accounting teams and GFSS (India, Hungary & Mexico).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees the US GAAP accounting and monthly closing activities for a given number of Swiss ledgers.
  2. Prepares the EMEA US-GAAP and Swiss statutory accounting memos for complex transactions;
  3. Prepares Swiss statutory accounts and ensures that Group and Swiss local financial reporting and compliance requirements are timely, efficiently and accurately met, in keeping with US and Swiss GAAP, corporate policies, legal and fiscal regulations and within Eaton’s framework of norms and business philosophy.
  4. Manages maintenance and operates the statutory financial statements consolidation system, FCCS, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the Swiss statutory financial statements, working in close collaboration with the Global FCCS administrator.
  5. Controls the VAT declaration process.
  6. Participates and supports the EMEA statutory impairment test process for investments, goodwill and intangibles accounts;
  7. Supports the EMEA Accounting Operations Group in regionalization of financial and compliance processes such as accounts analysis, SOX coordination, training and balance sheet reviews;
  8. Assists with accounting training, advice and assistance to other Corporate teams and Operations in accordance with US GAAP, local GAAP, Corporate Policy, internal control, auditing, tax and treasury requirements;
  9. Participates in the deployment of EMEA Compliance Framework and other Accounting Operations initiatives in dedicated countries;
  10. Performs compliance monitoring and operates various tools developed by the EMEA Accounting Operations Group with continuous focus on process efficiency;
  11. Provides expertise for ad hoc projects related to EMEA financial accounting and operations;
  12. Ensures ethical standards are maintained and provides guidance, training and education of accounting professionals as required.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Professional qualification/degree in accounting required; Expert Suisse diploma preferred
  • 3-4 years of relevant working experience;
  • Significant experience in finance/ accounting/ auditing within a multinational company;
  • Strong understanding of Accounting (US-GAAP, IFRS, Swiss CO), financial reporting, consolidation and analysis;
  • Knowledge of MS Office required (Oracle, SAP and/or FCCS (or similar software) experience desirable); strong Excel skills and Powerpoint are a must;
  • Ability to operate at a senior level in collaboration with diverse internal and external executives;
  • Excellent working knowledge of the English and French language; German proficiency a plus
  • Strong presentation and communication skills;
  • Ability to operate and deliver independently without day to day supervision
