The primary role of the Principal Compliance Specialist is to reduce Medtronic’s exposure to risk associated with working through third parties in the area of sales and distribution. This will be accomplished through the development, implementation and execution of an effective and robust international (non-US) distributor compliance program. The job requires frequent interaction with senior executives of the region. This position will have responsibility for ISC. The position will report directly to the APAC Senior Manager, Channel Compliance.
A Day in the Life:

  • Partner with third parties, business and functional leaders to develop strategies for enhancing distributor’s compliance in ISC, reducing Medtronic’s regional compliance risks and liabilities and foster adherence to the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Find innovative and value added solutions for complex distributor compliance challenges in the region.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with regional, corporate, business unit and executive management.
  • Mitigate distributor compliance risks through the implementation of adequate screening procedures, robust written agreements, on-site assessments, enhanced training and awareness and prompt remediation of compliance gaps.
  • Provide guidance and assistance as necessary in the performance of special reviews or investigations related to fraud or other alleged legal violations through multiple channels (legal, internal audit, forensic audit, human resources, and ombudsman, etc.).
  • Develop strong working relationships with other functional leaders (such as distributor management, Legal and Compliance) and collaborate on all legal & administrative issues related to distributor management, including screening/selection process as well as distributor terminations.
  • Through periodic meetings and updates, based on conclusions of due diligence and on-site assessment work, alert regional senior management to concerns and barriers.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of rules, regulations and standards in the field of anti-corruption, compliance, internal audit and related matters of interest to the department.
  • Draw, Create and Provide insights and data visualizations to senior stakeholders through analysis of a variety of datasets such as finance, compliance, sales data

Must Have: Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the area of Accounting, Finance, Legal, Business or related area
  • 10+ years of experience with CPA or other advanced Accounting/Finance/Legal degree OR 10+ years of experience with Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience
  • Experience developing and implementing a compliance program, to include risk management/risk assessment, training and investigations in a compliance or legal environment
  • Experience working with compliance standards
  • Experience in the medical device or regulated industry
  • Proficient in Excel, BI tools like Power BI or Tableau to generate reports
