The Role Responsibilities
The role is based in Bangalore and reports to the Vice President Benchmarks and Ops Risk %26ndash; Product Control;
Operational Risk Team supports PC VC function on ORF roll out, Control monitoring testing (CST, KCSA %26amp; KCI), Monitoring of Open Ops risk events for closure, EUC inventory %26amp; registration process, Migration governance (Ops Risk), Business Resiliency documentation %26amp; support during BCP event. Team is being engaged on interpretation %26amp; implementation of group policy/ procedures and regulatory requirement within PC. Also, team provides PC Ops Risk agenda update to various forums like Operational Excellence Forum, CRC %26amp; FRC.
VC Benchmarks team%26rsquo;s role will be to independently perform the post-submission control monitoring and validation process of benchmark rates submitted by the bank. As part of the daily activities, the candidate will be responsible to identify any discrepancies and breaches with respect to benchmark post-submission validation
Business

  • Support Product Control at the organizational level, keeping in mind the relevance to business strategy.
  • Apply a structured methodology to deliver the project through creation/execution of a plan to support adoption of the changes.

Processes

  • Responsible to run/oversee the BAU controls, reporting and escalation process for the post-submission validation of benchmark rates submitted by the bank.
  • Daily input of the bank%26rsquo;s submitted rates and fixings from the calculating agent into a central database.
  • Check the flagged variances on a daily basis and follow up with the various submitting desks for clarification.
  • Check that all submitted rates are in accordance to the hierarchy of evidence prescribed by the various regulatory bodies.
  • Escalate identified issues to the line manager, and actively liaise with stakeholders to close out the issues related to benchmark rates submission monitoring.
  • Act as the main Benchmark Rates Setting Control%26rsquo;s representative on various governance committees with respect to benchmark rates submission.
  • Provide timely updates and management information to various committees and key stakeholders.
  • Research best market practices and keep abreast of regulatory changes with respect to benchmark submissions.
  • Pro-actively improve and automate the current processes.
  • Preparation of monthly reports for senior management review.
  • Assess the impact of regulatory changes and implement additional controls on a need-be basis.
  • Provide feedback (from VC%26rsquo;s perspective) on methodologies used for rate submissions, and for the identification of threshold variances
  • Acting as a first line of defense. Primarily to address the queries raised by business on various Procedures %26amp; Policies related and help them to comply with Group Policies %26amp; Procedures.
  • To adhere Group ORF procedures, perform control monitoring testing on an ongoing basis, the design and effectiveness of key controls using the %26lsquo;CST%26rsquo;, Key Control Self-Assessment (KCSA) and Key Control Indicators (KCI) framework
  • Act as the main contact with auditors to facilitate and coordinate reviews and audits.
  • Support and provide guidance to Responsible Persons (RPs) to ensure integrity, quality and completeness in the execution of KCI, CST %26amp; KCSA.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Group. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulation, guideline and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls, by performing periodic assessment and monitoring activities as well as timely identification, escalation and resolution of risk issues.
  • Carry out First line audits and control reviews and reporting findings to management team.
  • Coordinating between EUC finance team and PC-VC on the EUC registration process and publishing MI related to EUCs.
  • Provide support on the Migration governance and present Score Cards/MI to various forums like Operational Excellence Forum, CRC %26amp; FRC etc.
  • Prepare BIA documents, BCP testing documentation and facilitate BCP testing on the Business resiliency support.
  • Proactively monitor OR events (internal or external) and escalate significant events to Direct Line Manager as appropriate.
  • Encourage the development of an appropriate risk culture and discipline in PC-VC.
  • Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls, by performing periodic assessment and monitoring activities as well as timely identification, escalation and resolution of risk issues

Regulatory %26amp; Business Conduct

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Educated to degree level; preferably with a Finance / Business / Financial Engineering background / master%26rsquo;s degree in a quantitative subject. CA / CFA / FRM are an advantage.
  • Strong IT skills. In particular Excel, VBA, and SQL.
  • 10 to 12 years of experience on Global Markets, treasury products (preferably working within support functions from Middle Office Control / Operations / Market Data Control / Operational Risk)
  • Ability to work under constant pressure to tight deadlines and deliver high quality output.
  • Lateral thinker who is a strong team player with ability to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels both written (report and guideline writing) and verbally.
  • Analytical and challenging mindset.
