Preferred Qualifications
Work with a world-class team to provide Oracle Database
Administration support for customer production systems in the Oracle
Cloud, with the opportunity to work on the latest Oracle database
releases and features as part of the cloud first strategy. Provide DBA
operational support with a high degree of customer service, technical
expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to
customer problems to ensure customer success.
Be a motivated, team-player with the ability to work cross
functionally with a can-do and do-it-right attitude, a self-starter,
and constantly thinking of ways to improve the work. Comfortable
leading a team technically, providing direction and mentorship; or
acting as an individual contributor. 7+ years of experience supporting
relational databases as a Database Administrator, with a focus in
Oracle/SQL Server and related tools. Experience with an organization
with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its databases is preferred.
Roles %26amp; Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all operational aspects of Oracle/SQL Server database systems including performance, integrity and security.
• Plan and execute database migration from Microsoft SQL Server to Oracle.
• Monitor performance of the database and the database servers;
Determine optimal performance parameters for the database server,
operating system etc. and tune as needed.
• Carry out periodic maintenance of the database including table extents, indexes etc.
• Carry out periodic maintenance of the database platform in terms of software updates, security updates and service packs.
• Plan, test and execute a data migration from a Microsoft SQL Server DBMS to Oracle DBMS.
• Ensure that redundant database systems are properly maintained,
and that they are available for activation as and when required.
• Carry out database design tasks in conjunction with the software
development team and implement enhancements and modifications to the
database.
• Respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues and provide advice on improving database performance.
• Monitor database logs and take corrective action on issues if required.
• Participate 24×7 on call support on a weekly rotating schedule, including weekends
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures/documentation
• Provide escalation support for database related issues
• Share knowledge and mentor junior team members as needed
• Develop administration automation and monitoring scripts as needed
Skills %26amp; Experience
• Bachelor%27s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (B.E/B.Tech Only)
• 6 to 8 years of extensive database management experience with strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
• Thorough knowledge of relational database theory, information modeling, SQL and data organization.
• Proven experience in administration of Oracle databases.
• Proven experience in administration of Microsoft SQL Server databases (2014,2016).
• Experience managing large-scale database.
• Experience with database backup and recovery
• Experience administering DBMS systems running on Windows Server.
• Experience administering DBMS systems running on Unix/Linux.
• Experience with database patching and upgrades
• Experience with developing and using automating database setup and maintenance scripts.
• Experience with analyzing query execution plans and tuning the database accordingly.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to investigate errors and performance bottlenecks
• Willing to work in a 24×7 production mission critical environment, including weekends
• Excellent written, verbal communication and documentation skills
Desirable
• Experience in administration of Postgres databases.
• Experience in automating the management and configuration of multiple databases
• Commercial Certification in Database Administration (Microsoft or Oracle)
• Experience in any Unix shell script, Perl script and Python
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.
Perform performance trend analysis and manage the server/network capacity. Propose client configuration and implement technical solutions to enhance and/or troubleshoot the system. Work with others to define, coordinate vendor purchase needs. Responsible for support documentation as well.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 5 years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. BS in Computer Science or related field.
