PayPal’s Global Fraud Risk team is responsible for partnering with global business units to manage a variety of risk types including identity fraud, account takeover, stolen financial fraud, and credit issues. This is an exciting department where the contributions by the team members can drive not only PayPal’s bottom line financial savings but safe and secure global business growth and best customer experience. This particular opportunity is within the PayPal Global Fraud Risk BI team who develops advanced models and drive next level insights and strategies about PayPal users/payments and translate them into actionable processes designed for large scale risk assessment/decision for various PayPal products. Responsibilities include: • Apply advanced statistical techniques and algorithms on complex dataset to build deep learning models on prediction and driving automated business insights for PayPal product or customer level fraud risk management • Mine data covering a wide range of information from user profile to transaction details to solve risk problems that involve classification, clustering, pattern analysis, sampling, simulations. Leverage data to conduct GFR business program and initiative analytics, monitoring, and reporting with scalable and flexible platform. • In addition to existing AI deep learning models, build an additional on top layer of framework to produce best Financial scenarios and results for Business Growth balancing business enablement vs. risk mitigation efforts • Conduct a 360 fraud risk framework that covers risk lifecycle metrics for analytics, decisioning, and cross team collaboration. Conduct on-going performance overview to senior management • Carry out independent research and innovation in new content, ML and technological domains. Trouble shooting any data, system and flow challenge while maintaining flawless strategy execution
Requirements include:

  • BA/BS/MA/MS degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics or related quantitative discipline
  • Strong code writing skills in key programming language (Python, R, Java, etc.) as well as data manipulation domain and familiarity with relevant ML Packages
  • Experience with financial modeling and credit/payment risk solutions and forecasting
  • Proven experience in employing mathematical, statistical, data mining and machine learning algorithms on real world problems
  • Must be an intuitive, organized analytical thinker, with the ability to perform detailed analysis
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills a must, including the ability to explain and/or present analyses
  • Must have good business judgment with demonstrated ability to think creatively and strategically
